DIGITAL SNAPS - the new face of photography

1. This article was written to discuss the introduction of digital technologies to the photographic world, which in turn effects the use of analog practices in photography. It is drawing attention to the fact that technologies such as snapchat are making that were originally private, public. I think that the aim of this article was to highlight the changes that digital technology has made to photography.
2. Analog photography was made for a future audience, digital photography can be seen and shared almost immediately.
3. The era of web 2.0 effected photography because it gave a new use to amateur photographs.
4. They are meaning that amateur photography has become more about immediate sharing to everyone that they are connected with, rather than making photos to share and experience with people closest to the photographer.
5. Aspects of society that can influence the interpretation of photos could be the political party in that country/society, or the dominant religion there.
6. A social practice is something that questions a social issue, so in terms of photography, a social practice is a photo that inflicts questions upon the viewer. In regards to the networked technology, it is a photo that brings people together and connects them through mutual understanding. And as an image it needs to be viewed and emit feelings to those viewing it.
7. Photography has rarely been discussed as a practice because it is not thought to be a practice, as it is viewed as an easy task.
8. I am interested in the shift between analog and digital photography and could possibly combine the two in my work.
